A large donation of masks by Interact for Health is helping to keep children and faculty in Campbell County school districts safe from COVID-19.
Since the pandemic began in March, Interact for Health has educated Greater Cincinnatians about how to stop the spread of the virus. We have promoted common sense steps such as hand washing, social distancing and wearing masks.
In December we went a step further. Interact for Health offered free disposable surgical masks for nonprofit and government organizations in our 20-county service area.
One agency that applied was the Campbell County Public Library. It had been collecting masks since September for the Coverings for Kids campaign, said Andrew Moorhead, the library's communications manager. Kentucky First Lady Britainy Beshear and Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman developed the collection campaign so that schools could get protective masks at no cost.
In early January, Interact for Health's donation of 22,000 masks arrived at the library. It has distributed the masks to all six school districts in the county --Bellevue, Campbell County, Dayton, Fort Thomas, Newport and Southgate, Moorhead said.
"We are blown away by the generous donation of 22,000 masks," said library director JC Morgan. "Every single mask will go a long way to helping keep students and school faculty safe this year. Thank you for your support, Interact for Health!"
We're happy we could help protect people from COVID-19 with this donation of masks. As rollout of the vaccines continues, wearing masks, hand washing and social distancing remain critical to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Keep at it!
